My daughter is going to a karate “Training Bonanza” tomorrow. She’s been doing karate for a couple years now, through the local park district, and she loves it. This is the first big “away” thing I’m bringing her to. Luckily I don’t have to stay there, but I’m going to have a lot of time to kill.
I’m planning to hit the local Pick-a-Part to try and find a find a straight and not rusty front bumper for my truck. That should eat about half of it. Not sure what else to do.
Hammer pic for your time.

If you had more time I’d say drive over to Elkhart or South Bend and check out the Motorhome/RV or Studebaker museums.

Find empty, snowy parking lot. Commence donuts and dorifto!! = Profit.

I was toying with the idea of going to the Studebaker museum. I could probably pull it off, but I'd have to push it awfully hard.

Ha, trying to find a straight and rust free bumper at a junkyard? In the midwest? And you think you’ll only be spending half your day doing that? Good one!
If you do manage that, one of my favorite junkyard games is “why is this car in the junkyard?” Usually the answer is “chassis rot”, “it’s an old POS but still ran” or “donated vehicle bought on copart”, but every so often I’m lucky enough to see something like
“threw a rod straight through my block”.

Yeah, that plus the junkyard plus driving would end up being a little tight.
I visited both on my trip to that area a little while ago, worth seeing .

Motorhome museum?? Who'd of thunk it? Junk yard for me this weekend as well for some Vic bits.

Wow, there are a lot of tank farms in that area.
I don’t have any suggestions but that sounds a lot like my life. Always 1-6 hours to kill in some small town somewhere.

Maybe if they've had more snow than we've had around here. I've only used my snowblower once all winter.

I would skip the junkyard if I was going to do the museum. How big is the Studebaker museum? Can you see it properly in a few hours?

I’ll settle for straight. I’m assuming they won’t have many of my truck to chose from, so they’ll either have one or they won’t ... Won’t is m uch more likely.

I don't drink alcohol. Never cared for the taste.

Yep, it’s a thing and is pretty cool. I wouldn’t travel to IN just for it, but if you’re in the area anyway, a unique thing to visit:
https://www.rvmhhalloffame.org/
Junkyards here must be mud bogs with the recent weather, although I might check out an auto auction on Sunday just for kicks, lots of abandon ed/donated/backlot reject cars, which are always fun to look at. I am sure you’ll find some CV bits someewhere.

Stude isn’t overwhelming but it is comprehensive , 3 hours should be enough if you keep moving, and 2 is probably doable if you watch the clock. I think it’s a 3 story facility, in an old Stude building.

Need tires? Tire Rack is in South Bend, I think.

Yikes, even Trip Advisor looks pretty grim.
But I’ve never been there, so maybe its secretly awesome?

Cool. The original idea was to take my father in law to the Studebaker museum, while me daughter did karate. He has been talking about wanting to see it for years. He can't make it today though, so I'll save it for another day. Probably for the best, he doesn't move too quickly these days.

I actually thought of that, because I have been to Tire Rack before to get tires ... But I don't actually need any tires.

If you plan it, you could do Stude and the motorhome /RV in a day. They are only around 30 mins from each other.

Not really because environmental concerns make fewer choices and higher prices. Probably better out in the Central Valley.
